Beit Jala Protest against the Apartheid Wall

Beit Jala Protest Part 1/4 (near Bethlehem):

"Palestinian Christians and Muslims, along with Israelis and internationals, share their concerns about the illegal wall's destruction of Palestinian land and homes...and are met with violence from Israeli soldiers (under order)."

Part 1

Part 2

Comment: I must urge the video makers not to label Palestinians as Christians, Muslims, or otherwise in their videos. If Palestinians don't label themselves as such, why should others do it.

I must say I disagree with your urging for video makers to not label Palestinians as Christians. I think most of the world doesn't even know there is such a thing as a Palestinian Christian. Just the world knowing that there are Christians in Palestine helps break the old stereotypes.

2nd: Even though it's wrong, when Christians in other parts of the hear about what is happening to other Christians it is an opening to convincing them of the justice of the Palestinian struggle when there otherwise wouldn't be.

I think it's important to not label Christians as the only ones worth helping, or things like that. I also don't think the same approach works for everyone.

Environmentalists should be told of the environmental degradation caused by illegal settlements. Feminists should be told of the harassment and sexual assault of Palestinian women by IDF. And so on. Whatever it takes to get an opening to get someone to listen and see is what we should do as a movement.

I think labelling them INDIVIDUALLY as such, case at hand, goes beyond the validity of informing people of the diversity of the religeous background of the Palestinian society. We all know the results of putting a tag on people. Need I say more?
