"Hundreds of Gazans including senior officials from various Palestinian factions held a rally in Gaza to mark the Palestinian Land Day.

Land Day resonates with Palestinians everywhere as it was the first time Palestinians inside Israel stood together and successfully resisted the Israeli confiscation their land.

On the 30th of March 1976, six unarmed Palestinians were killed, hundreds wounded, and hundreds more jailed at a demonstration involving thousands of people from the Palestinian minority in Israel.

They had gathered to protest the Israeli government plans to expropriate Palestinian land.

Land Day is one of the most important anniversaries in the Palestinian calendar, sometimes referred to as the Palestinians' national day.

Like every year, Palestinians and advocates of Palestine around the world use this day to protest against the illegal occupation of the Palestinian land by Israel.

Land Day symbolizes the Palestinian struggle and determination to return to their original towns and villages.

35 years since the first time Land Day was celebrated, Palestinian land confiscation is now at its peak specially in the West Bank and Jerusalem Al-Quds.

For Palestinians Land Day has become a symbol of Palestinian resistance to colonization, occupation and years of Israel siege.
